Editorial Reviews : The Polaroid OneStep Close Up camera offers a contemporary design and snaps Polaroid's signature instant images. It features focus-free simplicity and an automatic flash with a 2-to-10-foot range. It also offers a selectable close-up lens for shots between 2 and 4 feet. The Polaroid OneStep Close Up camera uses Polaroid 600 film to produce 3.13-by-3.13-inch exposures.
Buyer Reviews : Lately Polaroid has been busy trying to light a fire under their flagging sales by introducing a raft of 'life-style accessory' cameras: the i-zone, JoyCam, PopShots and most recently, the Spectra FF. But its their oldest model, the One Step, that offers the most bang for the buck. The i-zone, PopShots and JoyCam models foolishly have dispensed with Polaroid's traditional lighten/darken control. Since Polaroid instant film has a rather narrow range of tone and contrast, an exposure that's sligthly too light or dark can be much more disappointing than if it were shot with a conventional camera. And at nearly a buck a pop, disappointing snapshots get pretty expensive. The One Step still has a slide control for adjusting exposure, which gives you some chance of salvaging a shot that otherwise wouldn't impress. The One Step models also give you a swing-in close-up lens for getting more pleasing portrait shots.
The newer One Step Express and Silver Edition models offer the same features, plus an adjustable hand strap in a spiffed-up package; its your call as to whether the strap and added swoop is worth the extra ten bucks. Polaroid's other new-comer, the Spectra 1200FF offers essentially the same features with a wider-angle lens, fold-up body and rectangular format film. Its also nearly twice as ... For practical features in a reliable, bargain-priced package, the One Step Close-up model is the pick of the lot.
